This is a photo story of a UPS Driver, John Shea (62), who has been working for UPS for 30+ years. I met John when I was on my first closing shift at the UPS store. John is the pickup driver for our store when we are closing. I began working at UPS in early July so I have gotten the chance to know John and I have been privileged to work with him three or four days a week since then. When I began to think about what I wanted to do for my photo story, I immediately thought of John and his unique story with UPS. He is such an amazing gentleman and I really look up to him for his dedication and work ethic.

I was excited to find out that he agreed to let me follow him for a day and see what a man, his age, goes through on a day to day basis. He really is a hard worker, but he always finds a way to cheer people up. There are people on his route that really respect him and seem to love him. While I was following him on his route, I probably counted 10 times when I saw a person walking on the street and look over towards John’s big brown truck and either yell out his name or wave to him. He is well known and, of course, loved. I really enjoyed my time working with him.

I really wished I could have sat down with him and had more time to dig deeper into both his personal life and work life, but with Christmas coming up and things getting really busy, especially for the shipping business, I only got a few seconds at a time when he was in between deliveries.

I thank John for being willing by allowing me to capture a little of his life and I look forward to working with him as a co-worker and getting to know him more as a friend.

I was on a shoot for my Printing class. We had to create a David Hocholi Piece. So, these are the photos that I used for this project. Last Photo is the finished product.

Denver vs. Wyoming

For an assignment, I had to shoot a sporting event and I chose to go to the game between the University of Denver and the University of Wyoming. The game was here in Denver at the Magnus Arena. I was first shooting from the lower level in a ticketed seat. And I just had to get closer to the action to get what I wanted. So, I managed to get all the way down to the floor and shoot from underneath the hoop. if you look/act/walk like your important and carry around a big lens, the security will just assume that you have access to where your going. Great Philosophy, right?

I’m still an amateur sports photographer, especially indoor sports. But let me know what ya think. here are a few of the shots I took. Enjoy.

13th Street

Today, like a few other days recently, I rode down 13th street on my long board to capture whatever I found somewhat interesting. 13th street isn’t very interesting. I also got stopped by the Denver Police twice. They came running out like I just pooped on their doorsteps, and flashed their pretty little badges at me. Supposedly I was on Government Property. I obeyed there commands and headed down the street. Long story short, here are the photos I took. Enjoy.

12th street

I decided to keep going with this street thing. I shot 11th street a couple days ago on my way back from class. Today I was walking to class and I figured I would walk down a different street (12th st) and why not? Let’s take some photos. Not the most amazing shots ever, but you get a feel of what 12th street is all about. Have fun.

Saw a woman peeking out her window. So yes, I was that creep taking photos of the situation. I love the orange tinted light coming through.

This is just a street light. I loved the compostion. It would have been boring if I took a full frame photo of the street light, right?

Once again, I love the sun smearing on windows.

Motorcycle just chillin. Could got a better shot of it. I wanted it to be pretty tight.
